Core Workout to Combat Chronic Pain

core workout for chronic back pain
I do a core workout almost every day to fight chronic pain.

Keeping my core muscles strong has been a lifesaver. Not only am I able to run again, but I’ve started sleeping again because I’m not in as much pain when I lie down. My low back and pelvis and hips were in so much pain for more than a year that I was terrified it would become a lifetime issue.

I already deal with chronic pain and felt like I couldn’t stand a new addition to my pain resume’. The core exercises help my pelvis stay in proper alignment, which relieves the once-constant pain in my back and hips. The picture of my notebook shows what a daily core workout looks like for me. I change things up each day but always do the basics.

  1. I love reading your posts, they are incredibly inspiring. I too have lived with Fibromyalgia since the age of 4; I’m now 38. It is something that I’ve never let get in the way of my life, until I was hit with Sarcoidosis a few years back. This stopped me in my tracks and I have been fighting it for a long time now. This last few months I feel that I have turned a huge corner and am ready to rise again. I never felt before that I needed to ‘fight’ for my health. But boy do I feel it now. The mental side of making a comeback is incredible, the self doubt of my own physical abilities is overwhelming at times. But that wonderful feeling you felt at being able to squat; I feel it 🙂 the first time in 7 years I managed a kickboxing session at my old club! The joy I felt at my first roundhouse was wonderful. I felt like a child on Christmas morning
I love your dedication and congratulations on your squats
